The Podcasting University is a new site currently from the author Jason Van Orden (who wrote Podcasting 101 and Promoting Your Podcast. The website will be an extension of the concepts written within the pages of his books and as a result it not only needed to be integrated into the design of the site, but also was going to be used on the covers of all the Podcasting books the Jason’s publisher was working on.
While the University aspect of the site opens up quite a few possibilities, I wanted to avoid the use pretty much every collegiate cliché that popped into my head. However, I didn’t think the University aspect of the logo should be avoided completely simply for the sake of being a contrarian, and I worked to combine the process of podcasting with university life. A crest was used to build a connection between the upper echelon of learning institutions and the Podcasting University. The image atop the logo illustrates the podcasting process, from microphone straight to the listener.
