On contract with Bill Smith Studio, we were assigned to apply our magic to the Science Excursion feature pages of Harcourt’s 2009 National, Kentucky, New Jersey, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Georgia Science Programs. There were 9 excursion spreads for each state and grade (grades 1-6), and each revolved around a state specific destination with scientific value relating to the lesson it was attached to. The features were meant to portray the lesson content in fun and exciting ways that were grade appropriate and hopefully result in the student’s wanting to get their family together and take a weekend trip to expand the learning experience beyond the classroom.
